Photogrammetry

AU student, Leticia Soares, created the above photogrammetry image under the guidance of Dr. Cossin in his archaeology lab. According to the National Park Service, “Photogrammetry is the science and art of using photographs to extract three-dimensional information from a series of well-placed images. Paired with either a standard ruler or GPS locations of camera positions provides the scale in completed models.”

Liquid Ozone

Chicago native Douglas Smith founded Liquizone, a company that made Liquid Ozone, in 1898. During this period, people were desperate for a cure for microorganism diseases since they were mysteriously spread and difficult to treat. Quack medicine makers like Liquizone took advantage of this. It was marketed to cure many diseases, including asthma, anemia, cancer, and eczema. In reality, oxygen in the liquid state is cryogenic, meaning it would be about -200 °, making it impossible to drink. Nonetheless, the company was denied a patent and wrote this statement. "We wish to start by stating that we are not patent medicine men and will not employ their methods... Liquozone is too important a product for quackery."
