What do archaeologists do in labs?
As an archaeology student, I had the opportunity to work in an archaeology lab. It was a fascinating experience that allowed me to learn about the different aspects of archaeological research. In the lab, we analyzed artifacts and materials collected from archaeological sites.
The first step in the lab was to clean and sort the artifacts. We used brushes, water, and other tools to remove dirt and debris from the objects. Then, we sorted them by type and material. This process helped us understand what kind of objects were found at the site.
Next, we examined each artifact closely to identify its function and age. We used typology to determine their age and origin.
Finally, we cataloged all the artifacts in a database for future reference.
It was a rewarding experience that allowed me to see how much work goes into analyzing artifacts collected from a site before any conclusions can be drawn.
